How to DRASTICALLY improve your writing with 2 simple tips in five minutes
When I had to write articles, I used to follow all the rules, but I made no progress. I didn't understand why I never got past the stage of mediocrity!
It wasn't until I started breaking two major rules that my writing improved exponentially...
The first mistake is to make sure you use big words, to show how smart you are...
I used to do this all the time. Writing things like:
I experienced unnecessary disruption induced by his uninviting behavior.
Unfortunately, it took me a while to realize that all I was doing was confusing the reader. AND that I didn't seem intelligent at all.
This simply encourages the reader to abandon reading. So instead, you can say:
I was upset because he behaved in an unpleasant way.
The second mistake is to work on your article until every sentence is perfect...
Now, when I have to write an article, I write directly, without thinking, without correcting mistakes. I write whatever comes into my head! No proofreading, no spelling check, I don't touch anything.
And you know what I do next? I go for a walk, make a phone call, have a coffee, something, whatever!
Then, after a while, I would come back and start making changes. That amount of time makes all the difference, because you come back with a fresh perspective, a fresh mind.
In Conclusion
To radically improve your writing, embrace simplicity and avoid using overly complicated words. Avoid the excessive quest for perfection from the first draft.
Give yourself time to review your work with fresh eyes after a break.
By applying these simple yet powerful tips, you will see a dramatic improvement in your writing skills.
